After week 1 and 2 this is my third blog writing for weekly assignments. So, college recently launched hybrid physical classes with terms and conditions regarding safety precaution from pandemic of Covid-19 which is good for students as well as teacher to study and teach in proper manner. So many things had happened on online classes and many basics of different modules got introduced to students. Some of them was already known by me and some of them was new to me as well. Week 1 and week 2 gave me chance to experience online classes because this was my first time. So, in this blog writing I am going to write about my experiences about physical classes and what is the difference I found on physical classes and online classes.
The hybrid classes mean students have to attend lecture classes through google classes and remaining tutorial class and workshop class will be on physical manner on campus. So, on Monday there was our lecture class which was basically offline and to attend the lecture class students have to watch the videos uploaded on YouTube through the link provided from respected teacher on Google Classroom. So, I attend my class by watching the videos which was uploaded at 9:00 AM in the morning of three different modules Fundamentals of computing, Academic Skills and Team-Based learning and Introductory of programming and problem solving by three different teachers. So, it was not so tough not so easy type class and needs lot of concentration to understand the lecture mainly Introductory of Programming and Problem Solving and remaining two was below average in my opinion. We got opportunity to learn about the basic of Logisim and how to draw circuit using Logisim, Value returning functions and non-value returning functions, Program Routines, Parameter Passing, Mutable and Immutable arguments, Docstring, Variable Scope, and also deeply explore inside Java . On Tuesday there was our tutorial classes of two different modules on campus at 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM of Fundamental of computing by Sujan Shrestha Sir and at 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM of Introductory of Programming and Problem Solving by Deepson Sir. During the lecture classes we basically discuss about the lecture’s slide by asking the doubt regarding the lecture classes and also deeply study how to solve the problems regarding doubts. On Wednesday, there was our tutorial class of Academic skills and team-based learning by Manish Deuja Sir from 11:00 A.M to 12:00 AM. During the class we mainly discuss about the note taking their types and learning styles as well and what type of learning style should we use to study and which learning styles are the best for learning. The tutorial class was only of 1 and half hour within this time period our group got distributed as group 1, group 2 respectively and I was in group 1. We got assigned to watch the note taking styles video and to be prepared for the workshop class to make short presentation as well. Talking about note-taking methods there are 5 note-taking methods.
1.Cornell Method(The Cornell method provides a systematic format for condensing and organizing notes without laborious recopying. After writing the notes in the main space, use the left-hand space to label each idea and detail with a key word or “cue.”).
2.Outline Method( Listening and then write in points in an organized pattern based on space indention. Place major points farthest to the left. Indent each more specific point to the right. Levels of importance will be indicated by distance away from the major point. Markings are not necessary as space relationships will indicate the major/minor points).
3.Mind-Mapping Method(Mapping is a method that uses comprehension/concentration skills and evolves in a note-taking form which relates each fact or idea to every other fact or idea. Mapping is a graphic representation of the content of a lecture. It is a method that maximizes active participation, affords immediate knowledge as to its understanding, and emphasizes critical thinking).
4.Flow Method(If the lecture format is distinct (such as chronological), you may set up your paper by drawing columns and labeling appropriate headings in a table. Determine the categories to be covered in lecture. Set up your paper in advance by columns headed by these categories. As you listen to the lecture, record information (words, phrases, main ideas, etc.) into the appropriate category).
5.Write on the slide method(If the slides for a lecture are available beforehand (eg posted on your course Blackboard site), you can print the slides in a format that suits your note taking purposes. There are options in Power Point to print multiple slides on a page, from one slide per page to nine. Three slides per page will make it easy to write notes next to each slide as you follow the lecture.)
On Thursday, there was our workshop class of 2 hour and 30 minutes from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM by Manish Deuja sir of Academic skills and Team-based learning. The workshop was mainly focus about the note taking and presentation slide to represent the 1st presentation during college period. I was very nervous to represent the presentation at first. Many of my fellow mates represent their respective slide turn by turn group wise and at last there was our turn to represent and we did not expect that we will perform that good in presentation. On Friday there was our workshop class of 3 hour straight from 11:30 AM to 2:30 AM by Sujan Shrestha Sir of Fundamentals of computing. The main idea of this workshop was to deal with the problems regarding logical diagram using Logisim and other gates. During the classes we deal with all the doubts about the Logisim and practice more problems in class. There was no Workshop class of Introductory of Programming and problem solving due to public holiday on the occasion of Holi. I hope there will be make class or extra class of particular module to recover the missing class.
Third week was full of learning new things about different modules as always without any doubt. There are still many things to experiences and lot of study materials to study. The more days past more new things get introduced and more new challenges arrived. So, I have to get ready for every challenge that I will face in further future. I have learned many new things and got informed many information regarding the modules. At last, I want to continue my journey with the college with the same flow and explore more about the fact regarding college’s study environment.
